about

Indie rock song "2602 eastwood avenue" opens the door into a couple's parting conversation: a push & pull search for the origins of a relationship's fault lines and eventual breakage. It captures growing pains with a perspective at once critical and accepting; a desire to discern how our family histories influence us. maeve & quinn's voices are insistent, locked together in close harmony for much of the song even as it traces a couple's disentanglement. Will we ever fully understand why we love the way we do? Will we ever fully understand another's side of the story? It'll take some time to figure it out.

lyrics

--- LYRICS ---

over and over /
we were playing older /
you said that we had nothing to fall back on /
but you were the one /
leaning on my shoulder /
and i was the one / trying to be bolder //

and it’ll take some time to figure it out /
for you to say /
‘it wasn’t all your fault /
i had some family shit to figure out’ /
and it’ll take some to figure it out /
for me to know /
it wasn’t all my fault /
i had some family shit to figure out /
to figure out //

left turn / you left your wife to be /
you said ‘she would be better’ /
you’d be a little less scared /
both more prepared / later in life //

letting you go / letting you go / letting you go //

over and over /
you were silent, the withholder /
i talked too much / fighting myself, anxieties /
and you were so full of uncertainties //

and it’ll take some time to figure it out /
for you to say / ‘it wasn’t all your fault /
i had some family shit to figure out’ /
and it’ll take some time to figure it out /
for me to know /
it wasn’t all my fault /
i had some family shit to figure out /

and it’ll take some time to let it all out /
for me to say / ‘i loved you to the core’ /
we both missed out on each other /
when you walked out the door //
